Botter

Peet van den Berg, nicknamed Botter, was born in Pretoria in 1975. He matriculated at Hoerskool Jeugland and then studied for two years at RAU, which is now known as UJ. Botter, aka Peet, always loved music, and he sang in the Oosrandse Jeugkoor led by Johan van der Sandt for 2 years. He also sang in the RAU university choir, which in 1993 was directed by Reinette Bouwer. At university he was also part of several ser groups. The love for music comes from a young age, and at the age of 6, he sings in front of 5000 people at the PP church’s annual gathering. Botter has had several setbacks in life. He lost his father at a very young age, which put a lot of pressure on his family life. 7 years ago, he lost his position as Finance Admin manager, and out of necessity, he started singing for a living. The nickname Botter is a university nickname, as Peet was very stubborn. The last 3 years have been very successful. In that time Butter loses 75kg in weight, and can now be seen as margarine. In the midst of Covid, he was still able to keep his head above water.
